On a recent trip to Toronto, Canada — we have a Toronto Maple Leafs fan in our family — I did a little Googling and discovered that there is a special Sir Arthur Conan Doyle collection at the Toronto Reference Library. And anyone can go and visit! Guess how I spent the afternoon!
The majority of the material is about Sherlock Holmes, and you can enter Sherlock’s study and peruse the book shelves. The library receives regular donations, and they will take them all. (I’m going to donate one of my Sherlock kids’ books.) Of course, they don’t have enough space to display everything, but I was able to find some of the original Strand magazines with Sherlock short stories, as well as a hunk of rock that claimed to be found at the base of the real Reichenbach Falls.
If you are in Toronto, it is worth a visit! Toronto Reference Library 789 Yonge Street on the 5th floor, inside the Marilyn & Charles Baillie Special Collections Centre.

The Reichenbach Falls rock and The Strand Magazine. You can’t touch the rock, but you can hold and read an original copy of the Strand magazine!
